Picking the colour for your personalised garment can be a daunting task. If it's for work related garments, like a hoodie, does that colour suit the profile for your team ? If for a club or event, will say the tshirt fulfil Its role as sending the message you want to convey for said event in the most powerful way? Furthermore if it's for an individual person, is it the colour they would be happy to wear and feel comfortable wearing ? All of these scenarios need weighing up especially as colour can play an important part in conveying information, creating certain moods, and even influencing the decisions people make. Sir Isaac Newton got us started with a basic colour wheel based on how light reflected a spectrum of colours. Colour theory and the colour wheel have continued to evolve, teaching us more about the science behind why certain colours complement each other. Traditionally colours in the red area of the colour spectrum are known as warm colours and include red, orange, and yellow. Those on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colours and include blue, purple and green. The chosen colour can evoke different emotions and also influence what people buy, what objects they choose to put in their homes, and what they wear. When it comes to clothing, there is no shortage of research to draw on when choosing the perfect colour for your personalised garment. Take the fashion industry and the importance placed on the choice of colours for each designer. French artist Yves Klein was synonymous with a specific blue colour which became known as 'International Klein Blue', so also has 'Valentino Red' become a household name associated with that designer's collections. He reflected on this choice of colour as follows in an article for Esquire magazine: 'It's not pale or a pastel shade. It conveys a lot of oomph. Red is life, passion, love; it's the cure for sadness. " Our guy in the photo associated with this article is wearing a red tshirt and advertising an Italian Ice-cream company. The red is definitely uplifting and let's face it, normally eating ice-creams is too, so the overall message is to create positivity around that company and what they sell. We now have a huge range of colours for this design your own tshirt to choose from. Some garments which have stand out colours like hi viz clothing are designed as such for practical purposes. The reflective strips also help, but the bright lemon or orange colours of this garment wouldn't have the same effect if used by traffic wardens or on building sites for example, if they were made from muted coloured material. Therefore when they are personalised, all the more reason for the wearer of that hi-viz vest to stand out in the crowd. There's every chance that the wearer's company logo and lettering will also get noticed. So taking notice of colouring for clothing will get you places, and the impact is likely to be even greater if it's personalised.
